Omate Teams up With Nanoblock for a Kid-Friendly Smartwatch

Also lets you keep track of your child.

Wearable technology maker Omate has teamed up with Japanese company Nanoblock, which produces LEGO-like building bricks, for its latest venture. The result is a customizable smartwatch just for kids. Parents can connect with the watch to make two-way voice and video calls to keep in touch with their kids at any time, and should the little ones get lost, there is an SOS provider and location tracker to ensure children stay safe.

The Omate x Nanoblock smartwatch will be available to pre-order online starting in April for $179 USD and will be shipped in June. In order to fully benefit from the above features, you will need to pay a subscription fee, although the device does come with a one-year data plan. The watch will only be available in the U.S. and Europe, but there are other smartwatches out there for kids from the likes of Aspis8 and VTech. Be sure to also take a look at the recently revealed Iron Man AR set.
