Watch the Magical First Scene From 'Mary and The Witch's Flower'

From a colleague of Hayao Miyazaki.

Studio Ponoc’s first animated film Mary and The Witch’s Flower doesn’t hit theaters until later this month, but you can already watch the stunning opening sequence online. The movie tells the story of how a girl from the countryside is given special powers from a flower, and is sent into a magical world for an unforgettable adventure. And if the animation style looks familiar, there’s a reason – the film is courtesy of Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who animated the Studio Ghibli classic Spirited Away.

Watch the first, action-packed scene of the film in the video above, and stay tuned for the whole movie when it arrives in theaters on January 19. For more entertainment, take a look at our list of our top ten films and TV shows for 2018.
