Pantone's Color of the Year for 2018 is Ultra Violet
Who guessed it?
Throw at all your Greenery items – Pantone has announced its Color of the Year for 2018 is Ultra Violet. And no, it’s not just a fancy shade of purple. The color is meant to evoke ingenuity, unconventionality and original thinking. Maybe time to pick up a few of those Nike Bordeaux sneakers that came out this year?
Ultra Violet was reflected in many of this year’s Spring 2018 runway shows, from Balenciaga to Gucci, so prepare to see it everywhere come the new year. The color also recalls music icons like Prince, who we lost in recent years, and Pantone describes the hue as offering some calm in a hectic world. “Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world,” Pantone says in its Color of the Year announcement.
