Beyoncé Celebrates International Day of the Girl With New "Freedom" Video
“Freedom” for a good cause.
We all remember Beyoncé’s explosive video for “Freedom” from her groundbreaking visual album Lemonade. In honor of this year’s International Day of the Girl, Queen Bey has given us a second music video for the song, this time with a cause.
Directed by M.J. Delaney, and produced by UNICEF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Project Everyone, the new video shows young girls around the world dancing to “Freedom.” But video’s main goal is to reminds us of the many obsctacles girls face, such as high rates of HIV, poor access to education and forced childhood marriage. The music video invites us to take action with one of the many causes highlighted on The Global Goals.
“Today is #DayoftheGirl. Girls around the world are fighting for their freedom every day. Join me, Chime for Change, and The Global Goals by taking action for #FreedomForGirls now,” Beyoncé wrote on her Facebook page on Wednesday. That’s certainly a mission we can honor every day of the year.
